Granovsky (1813–1855) presents forgotten and little-known to the general public works on the history of Western Europe in the Middle Ages and Modern times: public readings in 1851 on Timur, Alexander the Great, Louis IX and Francis Bacon, as well as articles 1845–1847 written for various popular publications. The book is addressed to historians philologists, philosophers and everyone interested in the history of Western Europe, the history of scientific and socio-political thought in Russia in the 19th century.
