About the book: 2011 / Soviet propaganda called the Red Army “Invincible and legendary”, however, in all honesty, at the beginning of the Second World War the Wehrmacht had much more rights to this honorary title - in 1939–1942. The Nazis went from victory to victory, “outright” defeating all opponents in Western Europe and occupying half of Russia, and the military art of the Reich had no equal. Of course, then no one would have thought of following the example of Peter I, who, having won a victory near Poltava, invited captured Swedish generals to a feast and raised a “healthy cup” in honor of his “teachers” - however, the Red Army also learned a lot from the enemy, ultimately surpassing the German “professors” in all respects (remember, for example, the Vistula-Oder operation or the defeat of the Kwantung Army, in comparison with which even the famous blitzkriegs pale in comparison). But, no matter how much the political instructors talk about the “superiority of the Soviet military school,” the “German handwriting” is clearly visible in the best operations of the Red Army.
