About the book: year / This book reflects certain realities. In 1968, in Paris and other parts of France, a violent uprising by students and workers, also against the rigidity of the French educational system, nearly toppled the government of Charles de Gaulle. The leftist uprising was eventually crushed, but the reforms the students demanded were carried out. The center of the uprising was in the Latin Quarter of the fifth arrondissement (or arrondissement) of Paris, which is one of the oldest quarters of the ancient city. This is the Sorbonne website.
