About the book: year / JO NESBØ is a Norwegian writer and musician. The writer was born on March 29, 1960 in Oslo, and grew up in Molde. Nesbø graduated from the Norwegian School of Economics with a degree in economics. He worked as a freelance journalist and stock broker. In the popular Norwegian rock band Di Derre, Nesbø is the main vocalist and composer. Nesbø likes to call himself a rock musician, composer, rock lyricist, professional economist and only then a writer. However, Nesbø became famous in Scandinavia, and then throughout Europe, in the late 90s thanks to a series of crime novels about the Norwegian policeman Harry Hall. The first of the novels in this epic, “The Bat” (Flaggermusmannen, 1997), created a sensation, received the title of “instant bestseller” from critics and made the author the winner of the prestigious “Glass Key” award in fierce competition with another famous Norwegian, Henning Mankell. In 2007, Nesbø released his first children's book, Doktor Proktors prompepulver. The total circulation of Nesbø's novels in his homeland exceeded 1.5 million copies (as of September 2008), his books have been translated into 40 languages. The writer now lives in Oslo.
