About the book: 2017 / One of the most prominent writers of the “second wave” of emigration Boris Nikolaevich Shiryaev (Moscow, 1889 – San- Remo, 1959), author of the famous testimony about the Solovetsky camp, the book “The Unquenchable Lamp”, wrote a lot and vividly on historical topics. In this publication, for the first time and as completely as possible, his articles on Russian history are collected - from the formation of Ancient Rus' to the post-war era. The writer set out to highlight the most important moments in the development of the nation, defending the fallen Empire from critical attacks. Texts collected from hard-to-find emigrant periodicals are published for the first time in Russia and are accompanied by scientific commentary.
