About the book: year / This book is no longer fantasy. “Base of the Rock” is a dystopia, whose action takes place in another dimension relative to the planet Warr, in parallel with the events of “Black Sun Rising”. The reader will learn how Hayate got to ancient Japan, what circumstances accompanied her birth, and will get a general idea of the world of Dictators, in which the events of all subsequent books will henceforth take place. However, the surroundings are secondary, and the plot of the story touches on it only superficially. “Base of the Rock” raises some questions that may seem religious, although in fact they are simply moral. I would like to note that I am a convinced atheist. If in previous books my heroes were, as a rule, much higher and stronger than their surroundings, the “Top of the Rock,” then here I depicted the opposite pole of the world. The inhabitants of the gloomy and cold planet Mortar are timid, weak creatures who have no idea what “war”, “rage”, “hatred” means... For hundreds of years they have served human aliens as slaves and a source of valuable leather. A primitive tribe of Zorgs, worshiping dragons that rarely visit their planet, unexpectedly receives their own “messiah”, who, being a predator, turns all their ideas about the world upside down. But the hero of the book himself, Hayate’s brother, a young dragon named Wind, having spent years in a peaceful and defenseless tribe, changes - and so that he can no longer find a place for himself in the world. A resident of the Top of the Rock, having lived at its Base, is no longer able to conquer steep slopes. And an abyss awaits below. Is he destined not to fall?.. The book came out very cruel, and the heroes are often simply pitied. But this is exactly what a realistic thing should look like. At least that's what I think.
