About the book: 2010 / "Invasion" is the first in a series of books dedicated to the Crimean campaign (1854-1856) of the Eastern War (1853-1856). This is a new work by the famous Crimean military historian Sergei Chennyk, whose work has become widely known in recent years thanks to analytical publications on the topic of the Crimean War. A characteristic feature of the author's style is the method of including sources in the very fabric of the presentation of events. This allows him not only to achieve exceptional expressiveness of presentation, but also to convincingly confirm his theses on the events discussed in the book. This is probably why the conclusions he made several years ago about the key events of several battles of the Crimean War are today generally accepted and not questioned. A unique approach, which involves a reasonable rejection of stereotypes that have developed over the years, makes reading fascinating and exciting. The language of the book is light and more reminiscent of a lively free narrative than a voluminous scientific and historical work. A large number of links does not overload the text, but rather serves as a logical addition to it, explaining complex elements without a tedious tone. The dynamics of the development of the situation, the absence of complex terms, the meticulousness of the author, the consistency in the presentation of events are the undoubted advantages of the book. The work is convincing due to the author's professionalism and the number of small details taken from that era. And the more subtle and little-known facts we discover in it, which can only be gleaned from fresh scientific articles or newly discovered sources discussed in the specialized literature, the more valuable such a narrative is. There is no doubt that this work will attract the attention of everyone who is interested in history, who is not indifferent to the preservation of the historical memory of the Fatherland.
