About the book: 2018 / For more than sixty years, the death of the battleship "Novorossiysk" has remained an unhealing wound for the relatives of the dead sailors and an ongoing sadness for the residents of Sevastopol, sharing all the joys and troubles with the fleet. Among the disasters of the Soviet Navy, there was no more tragic story than this one, which happened on October 29, 1955 in the Northern Bay of Sevastopol. At 01.30 on October 29, 1955, a powerful explosion occurred under the battleship Novorossiysk, which was stationed in Sevastopol Bay at anchorage No. 3. After 2 hours 45 minutes, despite all the measures taken to save it, the battleship turned upside down and sank, taking with it the lives of more than six hundred sailors. Based on a critical review of previously unpublished memoirs related to the topic, the author offers his view of the events associated with the battleship disaster.
