About the book: 2001 / Why did the author name his work that way? We will never know, because V.I. Palman passed away in 1995, without ever seeing his main creative work published. But he wanted to see, and agreed to the publication of at least individual chapters in various Moscow publications and in Magadan. But life, and not only life, decreed otherwise... “The Ring of Satan” consists of two parts: the first, “Over the Mountains, Beyond the Valleys,” tells about the Kolyma camps of the 30-40s, the second, “The Persecuted,” tells about the author’s life in Kolyma after liberation, and again about the camps. V.I. Palman was rehabilitated by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR on June 17, 1958 (certificate of rehabilitation No. 4n-2719/58). The book “The Ring of Satan” was published in the form in which it was secretly written by the author back in the 70-80s, without any changes or additions from the publisher. The publication was carried out by the Yagodninsky society “Search for those illegally repressed” with the financial support of the Civil Liberties Foundation.
