It is based on the expanded and revised edition “From the Sinjar Mountains to the Rub al-Khali Desert” (Moscow, 1974) with the addition of new sections on Iraq and Yemen, as well as new materials on Saudi Arabia and Oman. The author has traveled extensively throughout the countries Arabian East, visited the mountains of Yemen, the Hadhramaut valley, the coast of the Persian Gulf and other areas of the Middle East.
