About the book: 2022 / Young provincial Andre Sentorens comes to conquer Paris, where she falls in love with an employee of the Soviet embassy and marries him. Arriving in Moscow in 1930 with her husband and little son, she learned from her own experience the most unsightly aspects of life in the “state of workers and peasants”: total shortages, poverty, lies of state propaganda, fear of the NKVD, mass repressions. Soon she herself will be destined to walk in the circles of Gulag hell. After serving two terms in Stalin's camps and returning to France in 1956, Centorens published a book of memoirs in Paris, “Dix-sept ans dans les camps soviétiques” (“Seventeen years in Soviet camps”), but it went unnoticed and today is a bibliographic rarity. The Russian edition of the book by Andre Sentorens, supplemented by unique documents and photographs from Russian and French archives and private collections, is an attempt to return an undeservedly forgotten name and draw the attention of readers to the fate of an extraordinary and courageous woman. The publishing layout is saved in PDF A4 format.
