About the book: 2017 / Lyubov Vasilievna Shaporina (1879–1967) - creator of the first puppet theater in Soviet Russia, artist, translator. Her diary, published for the first time, is a unique phenomenon among domestic diaries of the 20th century. It was conducted from the 1920s to the 1960s and has no equal in terms of duration and thematic coverage (politics, economics, religion, life in the city and countryside, the siege of Leningrad, political repressions, the activities of the NKVD, literary life, music, painting, theater, etc.), and in terms of the severity of the critical attitude towards Soviet power. The book reflected Shaporina’s close acquaintance with A. A. Akhmatova, A. P. Ostroumova-Lebedeva, N. S. Tikhonov, A. N. Tolstoy, D. D. Shostakovich, M. V. Yudina and many other famous contemporaries.
