About the book: 2009 / The book analyzes the historical realities that led to the Katyn atrocity - liquidation The Polish state and its army as one of the consequences of the signing of the Soviet-German treaties of 1939. The study focuses on the difficult history of the Katyn case, the struggle against the suppression and falsification of circumstances, causes and motives of the crime, efforts to establish the falsity of the conclusion of the Burdenko commission and the entire Soviet “official version" presented in Nuremberg. The significance and role of Katyn in both Soviet-Polish and Russian-Polish relations are shown in detail - during the Second World War and the post-war period, during the years of “thaw” and “stagnation”, during the period of “perestroika” and fundamental transformations at the turn of the new century . The 1990s are especially highlighted and discussed, when the veil of secrecy was broken and an important step was taken towards reconciliation between Russians and Poles, the development of good neighborliness and partnership.
