MediaDB / «Cherubic Wanderer" Angelus Silesius: download fb2, read online
About the book: 1999 / This book is the first complete translation into Russian of the religious and poetic aphorisms of the remarkable German poet and mystic of the 17th century. Angel of Silesia (Angelus Silesius), written in Alexandrian verse with paired rhymes, is a phenomenon unique in German poetry: wordplay, parallel constructions, semantic repetitions, etc. represent real linguistic creativity. Angel of Silesia (Johannes Scheffler, 1624-1677) , a doctor by training, a Lutheran by hereditary religion, in 1654, under the influence of the mystic Frankenberg, converted to Catholicism and in 1661 became a member of the monastic order of the Franciscans. The Catholic, or rather extra-church, mysticism of the Angel of Silesia represents a departure from Lutheran-evangelical orthodoxy, associated with a direct turn to God, to intuitive knowledge of the world. The leitmotif of this search is the formula “God is in me and I am in God,” which, of course, is inspired by the evangelical mysticism of John the Theologian. For all those interested in issues of religious mysticism and poetry in general, acquaintance with the work of the Angel of Silesia can be useful both in religious and in poetically.
