About the book: 2007 / Outstanding French artist, surrealist writer, actor, screenwriter, television director Roland Topor (1938–1987) was born in Paris in the family of a Polish immigrant. In the early 60s, Roland Topor, together with his friends, fellow refugees and wanderers in the real and fictional world - the playwright Arrabal and the writer Jodorowsky - created the group "Panic". He begins not only to draw cartoons, which have now become classics of art of the 20th century, but also to compose novels, stories and plays. Any creativity captivates him: he draws cartoons, writes poems for songs, illustrates books, acts in films. The fairy tale “La Princesse Angine” was published as a separate book in 1967, and already in May of the following year, Sorbonne students erected barricades of cars and destroyed bourgeois Paris, raising slogans over their heads: “All power to the imagination!”, “Long live surrealism!”, “Dreams are real.” Surely in the backpacks of those desperate students there was this anarchic book, full of dizzying games, strange dreamlike images, and black humor, by Roland Topor. The publication was carried out within the framework of the Pushkin program with the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Embassy in Russia.
