About the book: year / This article analyzes one of the most significant elements of the anthropology of Rastafarianism - dreadlocks. This hairstyle is important for all Rastafari. This study analyzed Rastafari attitudes towards dreadlocks and their symbolism. Based on field material presented in the works of Western researchers (Gerald Hausman, Barry Chevannes, Noel Leo Erskine, Ras Steven, Werner Zips), interviews and biographies of Rastafari, we can say that dreadlocks are a symbol of faith and salvation. This hairstyle affirms a person’s new destiny - the Rastafarian destiny. Dreadlocks define the Rastafarian religious identity and are the result of human transformation. The study of dreadlocks plays a large role in the study of the anthropology of Rastafarianism.
