About the book: 1975 / Orhan Kemal (1914–1970) was not the first in Turkish prose to turn to the life of an ordinary worker. The best realist prose writers of the 30s of the last century wrote about her in their true stories - Sadri Ertem, Bekir Sytky and, above all, Sabahattin Ali. But they depicted his life from the outside, as it was seen by a village teacher, official, and intellectual. And they appealed mainly to feelings. The inner life of a person from the lower classes, in all its richness, dynamism, complexity and originality, was first made the subject of high art by Orhan Kemal. This is his main artistic discovery. And therefore, without his books it is now impossible to imagine Turkish culture, just as it is impossible without them to truly understand the people to whom the writer gave all his strength, all his talent. The book includes the novel “The Fraudster,” the stories “Murtaza” and “The Seventy-Second Cell » and stories.
