About the book: 1968 / Almost all the characters in Alexander Voinov’s collection are people in one way or another associated with the military profession. In the first section, the writer, with great accuracy and good knowledge of the material, shows the life and everyday life of the pre-war generation of cadets, future officers of the Great Patriotic War. The reader gets to know them during exercises, in the ranks, during leisure hours, and on leave. The author has invested a lot of personal experiences into the image of the young commander Berezin, on whose behalf the story is told. The second section of the book is dedicated to Soviet intelligence officers and heroes of the Odessa underground. One of the episodes of the courageous struggle of the unconquered Odessa against the occupiers is recreated in the documentary story “Curfew”, which describes the true events.
