    About the book: 2015 / The monograph offered to the attention of readers is dedicated to the life of Russian Jewish emigrants in Berlin during the period between the two world wars . The work tells about the social structure and legal status of “Russian Jews” in Berlin, about their daily life, relationships with German Jews, about the activities of various charitable and professional organizations (primarily the Union of Russian Jews in Germany and the Union of Russian Sworn Advocacy) in the process adaptation of emigrants to new realities. Of course, speaking about emigrants, one cannot ignore issues of politics, ideological disputes and discussions on recent history, especially the Russian Revolution, the participation of Jews in it and its impact on the fate of Russian Jewry. The book also examines the Jewish aspect of the culture of Russian Berlin, which became the “capital” of Russian emigration in the early 1920s. Separate chapters are devoted to the life of Russian Jews under the Nazi regime (1933-1941), as well as the process of re-emigration to other countries, mainly to the USA. The monograph is based largely on materials from the archives of Russia, Germany and the USA. The book is addressed not only to specialists, but also to all readers interested in the history of Russian Jewry, the history of Russian emigration and culture.
