About the book: 1923 / Version of the reasons for the separation of the Jewish people at the Beginning of Time, told by a Jew. Anti-Semitism in the ancient world. Attempts to explain it in science and its causes are a book by the Russian antiquarian Solomon Lurie, in which the author analyzes the reasons for the unkind attitude towards Jews in ancient times. The book was first published in 1922 in Petrograd and has since been reprinted three times in Russian in Germany, Israel and Russia. Despite the fact that back in 1923 the author significantly revised the manuscript, a new edition taking into account these changes was published only in 2009 in Moscow. The manuscript was recommended for publication by the Academic Council of the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The book became famous among Russian-speaking specialists. The book was first published in 1922 in Petrograd by the Byloe publishing house. The following year it was reprinted by the publishing house of Z. I. Grzhebin in Berlin. According to Lurie, it came out without the author’s knowledge at all. In this edition, significant changes were made without the consent of the author. In particular, the book's subtitle, epigraphs, dedication, annotated table of contents and response to Bickerman were removed.
