MediaDB / «Typhoon" Joseph Conrad: download fb2, read online
About the book: 1959 / J. Conrad is a typical relativist of modernism. A departure from reality into the primitive, into the exoticism of fantastic countries inhabited by naive and simple people, “neo-Rousseauism” is characteristic of the modernists, and Conrad was the clearest exponent of these sentiments of the English intelligentsia, who sought from the writer “miracles and mysteries that act on our feelings and thoughts in such an incomprehensible way.” in a way that almost justifies the understanding of life as an enchanted state: these words contain Conrad’s entire “philosophy”. Life is an “enchanted world” in which people’s destinies are fatalistically predetermined: a person is responsible for his intentions and desires, but not for the consequences of his actions, for he is only a victim of fate - passions and circumstances.
