About the book: 2010 / In 1890-1905 the tasks that a classic armored cruiser was supposed to perform boiled down to the following: reconnaissance in force; rapid concentration and coverage of enemy flanks; imposing a battle on the enemy and maintaining fire contact with him until the main forces approach; the ability to conduct linear combat in the same formation with squadron battleships; pursuit of a retreating enemy; independent long-range operations and support for light cruisers.
