About the book: 1962 / USSR Academy of Sciences. Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology. Moscow: Publishing House of the USSR Academy of Sciences, 1962. - 139 pp. In search of specific techniques for voluntary influence on involuntary reactions, we turned to the method of K.S. Stanislavsky, created by the great director to solve his professional problems. Our book does not at all pretend to be a “physiological substantiation” of the theory of stage creativity. We are much more concerned about what the physiology of human higher nervous activity can take from Stanislavsky than about the desire to provide assistance to theater pedagogy and theater studies. Our book is the first and so far the only attempt to provide a detailed analysis of K.S.’s method. Stanislavsky from the standpoint of modern neurophysiology.
