About the book: 1976 / The novel by Moscow writer Vera Shcherbakova consists of two parts. Its first half is dedicated to the harsh wartime. At the center of the story is the difficult everyday life of Soviet people in the rear, who gave everything for the front, suffered poverty and hardship, but believed in Victory with extraordinary clarity. Tracing the fate of his heroes, workers of one of the large factories of the capital, the author tries to answer the question of what allowed them to become so unbending during the years of severe trials. In the second part of the novel, his heroes appear before us as intellectually grown, clearly understanding how to take care of the world they have conquered during the war years.
