MediaDB / «Empires of phantom eagles. How the Russian diocese in America served as a factor in the outbreak of the First World War" Mikhail Aksenov-Meerson: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2021 / The book offered to the reader is an experience in political hermeneutics. In it, the author traces the development of one construct of national identity: having arisen in the Old World, this construct, having moved to America, is transformed in immigrant reality into another, already specifically American construct, albeit with a strong European component. Being imported back into the Old World in a modified form, it turns out to be capable of mimicking a new context, giving rise, in turn, to directly opposite constructs that are hostile to each other. They themselves, having turned out to be a weapon in the information war, become the force that unleashes a real war. In the case of this study, we are talking about the First World War and the Russian Orthodox diocese in America, largely consisting of former Uniate Rusyns, immigrants from Austria-Hungary - a diocese that, without realizing it, played a decisive role in the outbreak of this war.
