About the book: 1975 / The author of the story "The House with Closed Shutters" Pavel Pautin grew up in one of the villages of the Novosibirsk region. His father was a member of the Baptist community, and from his earliest years the boy was an involuntary witness, and sometimes a participant in prayers; he observed the life of Baptists from the inside, and not from the outside, and became acquainted with their morals and worldview. The author did not need to invent a plot or add certain colors to it - as already said, the story is autobiographical in nature. What made Pavel Pautin take up his pen to talk about his childhood? With pain and bitterness, Pavel Pautin recalls the hypocritical unctuousness of Baptist speeches and prayers, revealing the essence of religious teaching, securely disguised from outside views, calling people to renounce the joys of life in the name of the ephemeral “kingdom of God” after death. This story could have the subtitle “Stolen Childhood” - with each episode it exposes those who deprive children of joy, narrow their world, take away from them the opportunity to live in interests that are close and accessible to every child in our country.
