MediaDB / «The torment of science: scientist and power, scientist and money, scientist and morality" Lev Klein: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2017 / The author of this book has always been cramped within one particular humanitarian discipline , as well as within this or that scientific dogma. Starting with field archeology, the outstanding scientist L.S. Klein (b. 1927) devoted a lot of time and effort to theoretical problems related to the foundations of archaeological knowledge. During his student years, he gave a report criticizing the then dominant “new doctrine of language” N.Ya. Marra. In the mid-1960s, he initiated a new round in the dispute about the role of the Normans in the formation of ancient Russian statehood, speaking from the “anti-patriotic” “Norman positions” at that time. In the mid-1980s, he turned to the study of the Iliad, questioning both the author’s unity of this text and the location of ancient Troy, recognized since the time of G. Schliemann. Many years of studies in archeology and cultural anthropology, issues of ethnogenesis and the formation of the humanities, academic studies and teaching activities have in recent years acquired another form - intellectual journalism, the subject of which is the practical existence of scientific knowledge. In the essays collected here, science finds its now almost lost voice, not wanting to dissolve in the chorus of state and church patriotism, the discord of pseudoscientific research and the administrative imperatives of academic authorities.
