About the book: 2019 / The novel "Hunter Zero" is the story of Laura Carlson, who lives in Paris and is raised by her grandparents, because for Laura's mother it makes sense life was lost forever after the death of her husband. Even as a child, Laura begins to be haunted by an incomprehensible, fear-inspiring noise. This is the drone of the Japanese Hunter Zero, the fighter plane that a kamikaze pilot sent during World War II to the warship where Laura's father was serving. The girl is immersed in her own world, finding no support either from her mother, who lives detached from life, or from her authoritarian grandmother, who runs the household with an imperious hand, or from her submissive grandfather, who is passionate about his hobby of mathematics and astronomy. At the same time, thoughts about her dead father tirelessly haunt the girl, who thinks that the regular “raids” of the kamikaze pilot are echoes of that terrible battle in which her father died, that this is the soul of the dead pilot, who still cannot find peace. Laura grows up and goes to university, but nothing - neither her brilliant studies nor her love for the talented young composer Bruno - can save the girl from the obsessive pursuit of the Hunter. When Laura leaves her grandparents' house and moves to a new apartment, which was bought for her by her stepfather, who suddenly appeared in her life, it seems to her that the roar of the Japanese fighter that haunted her disappeared forever in the new atmosphere of students, fellow students and fun parties. However, the kamikaze pilot haunts her here too. And young Laura is ready to go to the end in search of a solution to the mystery that changed her life..
