About the book: year / The book "Into the Arctic Sea" opens a new series of books published by the publishing house " Paulsen" - "Diaries of modern expeditions". The book tells about Russian-Dutch expeditions to Novaya Zemlya and Vaygach Island, where, together with Russian archaeologists, scientists looked for traces of the last, third expedition of Willem Barents. For Barents, the expedition ended tragically - during the first winter in the history of the Arctic in 1597, he died on Novaya Zemlya. His grave has not yet been found. The action of Zeberg's book "Into the Arctic Sea" unfolds in two historical planes: these are the events of expeditions to Novaya Zemlya under the leadership of P. V. Boyarsky in the 1990–2000s, described in the diaries of Dutch participants, and events that happened more than four centuries ago and laid the foundation for a close interweaving of facts, stories, documents and persons that firmly connected the two countries.
