About the book: 2005 / In the years preceding the Second World War, the British Air Ministry began to pursue a practice in developing its bomber forces based on the adoption of armament of three types of bombers, created in accordance with the technical capabilities available at that time and the military-political situation. The first such “trio” were “Hampden”, “Whitley” and “Wellington”. Then, when the practice of air warfare changed, “Stirling”, “Halifax” and “Lancaster” appeared. And finally, in the post-war years, “Valient”, “Victor” and “Vulcan” were adopted. But in each case, in such a “trinity” one of the aircraft played the main role. Therefore, Wellington, Lancaster and Vulcan played more prominent roles than their brothers who remained in the shadows.
