About the book: 2013 / The concept of personality is considered in many ways an achievement of Christian thought, closely related to the development of triadology and Christology in the ancient church. Patristic theology saw a model of true personhood in the relationships between the hypostases of the Holy Trinity. However, in subsequent eras, especially in Western thought, personality became increasingly associated with the idea of ​​an independent, autonomous subject, and only in the 20th century did the idea that interpersonal relationships are constitutive of personality come to the fore again, that without such relationships it is in principle impossible. This book is devoted to the theological understanding of personality in different Christian traditions - Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Protestantism. The editors express the hope that such diversity in the selection of articles will allow the reader to get a more complete and diverse understanding of the difficult topic that is included in the title of the book.
