The result of the voyage was the rescue of the teams of “Vaigach” and “Taimyr” - ice-covered ships of the Hydrographic Expedition of the Arctic Ocean. The author of the book, captain of the “Eclipse”, is the legendary traveler Otto Sverdrup. He vividly, but in detail describes the life of the expedition, speaks with great warmth about the Russian polar explorers, admiring their courage, discipline, and sincerity. Svedrup’s memories are supplemented by the diaries of Doctor I. I. Trzhmessky, who went with him, who directly represented the Russian Maritime Ministry on this expedition.
