About the book: 1977 / The novel “Buran” by the Kazakh writer Tahavi Akhtanov was awarded the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR named after Abai in 1966. Behind the seemingly simple plot, behind the simplicity of the appearance of the main character, there are important events of the era, and a deep, subtle penetration into the spiritual world of man. The novel “Buran” is one of the significant achievements of Kazakh prose in the field of psychological novel. T. Akhtanov also works actively as a playwright. He has written about ten plays. One of Akhtanov’s works in this genre is the dramatic poem “The Oath.” In this work, the writer addresses the events of a complex and very important period in Kazakh history - the beginning of the 18th century. Taxavi Akhtanov is the author of a large number of critical and literary works. In 1972, T. Akhtanov’s travel essays “The Indian Tale”, written in a fictionalized form, were published. Criticism rightly noted the peculiarity of the writer’s artistic style in this work. He not only describes and gives a social analysis of what he saw - in his essays one can feel great emotional strength and civic excitement. Therefore, “The Indian Tale” is perceived as a work of art.
