MediaDB / «Silhouettes of the theatrical past. I. A. Vsevolozhskaya and his time" Vladimir Pogozhev, Vadim Gaevsky, Olga Barkovets: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2016 / The book is dedicated to a special period in the life of the Russian theater (1880–1890s), called the golden age of imperial theaters. It was at this time that I.A. Vsevolozhskaya was appointed their director, who became the initiator of grandiose transformations. The publication publishes for the first time the memoirs of V.P. Pogozhev, Vsevolozhsky’s assistant in the position of manager of a theater office in St. Petersburg. Pogozhev describes theatrical life from different sides, but special attention in his memoirs is paid to many significant characters of the late 19th century. Starting with the minister of the court, Count Vorontsov-Dashkov, and going through all the characters located on the hierarchical ladder of the Russian imperial theater, Pogozhev paints a picture of the complex relationship between power and art, sharply reminiscent of the present day. The book also includes articles by modern authors, one dedicated to the era of Alexander III, and the second to I. A. Vsevolozhsky and his time. The publication is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the history of Russia and national theater.
