About the book: 1983 / Americans call the political figures who laid the foundations of the state, parties, and ideological traditions in the United States the “founding fathers” of the country. At all times, their cult was implanted in the country; generations of historians and writers competed with each other in identifying and praising the virtues of the “founding fathers.” The author reveals the inconsistency of both the myths about the “founding fathers” of the United States created by bourgeois authors, and the myths about the inextricable connection of modern Washington policy with their ideals and actions. On the pages of this book, readers will get acquainted with the five “founding fathers” of the United States, in whose destinies, in the author’s opinion, the fate of the era was most fully and deeply reflected and had a huge impact on the formation of the political traditions of the United States. The central figures are A. Hamilton and T. Jefferson, after whom two paths of development of US capitalism were named. We did not set out to create comprehensive biographies of the “founding fathers” of the United States - such an attempt, given the availability of multi-volume modern biographies of almost every famous leader of the young North American republic, would have looked at least naive. Our goal was different: based on the latest multi-volume publications of the papers of the “founding fathers” and research literature, to determine the place of each of them in the historical events of the first decades of the existence of the United States. How the dramatic vicissitudes of the era of the formation of the United States were reflected in the fates of these figures and what was their own contribution to the American ideological and political tradition - these are the questions that the author tried to answer. How successful this was is for the reader to judge..
