About the book: year / Patricia Daniels Cornwell American thriller writer. Born June 9, 1956 in Miami (Florida). Studied at Davidson College. After graduating from college in 1979, she worked as a crime reporter for the Charlotte Observer. 6 years were spent working in the morgue, where Patricia was engaged in computer analysis. In 1983, she released “A Time for Memories” - a biography of Ruth Graham, the woman who lived next door to her as a child and who gave her advice to become a writer (Ruth Graham is the wife of the famous American preacher Billy Graham, mentor Cornwell). From 1984 to 1986 Patricia wrote three more novels, but they were all rejected. The editor of one of the publishing houses gave her advice: to ruthlessly get rid of the main characters - men, which Cornwell did, transferring one of the characters from unsuccessful novels - Dr. Kay Scarpetta - to the main ones. Her first Scarpetta novel, Postmorten (1990), is so far the only one of its kind in the history of the detective genre. In one year, he receives the most important awards in detective literature - Edgar Poe, J. Creasy, Anthony, McAvity and the French Roman d'Adventurei. This was the beginning of her successful work. In addition to the above awards, she was awarded the Golden Dagger of the British Crime Writers Association. Cornwell also has non-serial novels. In addition to literary work, he participates in the construction of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Virginia. In her free time, Patricia is busy selling her logos, which she has long put on most of the things she owns. Currently, Cornwell is among the highest paid authors. Her high income allowed her to conduct an investigation at her own expense to identify Jack the Ripper. It is likely that she is not the only sponsor of this project. The Royal Court of Great Britain assigned her the official status of the main expert on this issue, trying with this investigation to divert suspicions from some members of the royal family, which have become widespread in some works of literature and cinema.
