About the book: 2014 / This book is the first republication in 100 years of the fascinating science fiction novel of the “Ural Jules Verne” by I. G. Ryapasov, published in 1914 under pseudonym "I. de Rock." The heroes of the novel by this talented and forgotten writer go to Turkestan to unravel mysterious encrypted radio signals and end up in the Himalayas, where they find a city hidden from civilization and an obsessed scientist... “The Unknown City” continues in the “Polaris” series a number of publications of works that belong to the genre of “lost worlds" - the old and ever-new genre of fantasy and adventure literature. I. G. Ryapasov's novel "The Unknown City" ("Thunderstorm of the World") is published according to the edition of M. M. Stasyulevich (St. Petersburg, 1914) in a new spelling, with a number of corrections obvious typos, outdated spelling and punctuation, and some phrases. With few exceptions, the spelling of proper names and place names is left unchanged. Illustrations by I. Guryev are taken from the 1914 edition. The article by I. G. Khalymbadzhi (1933–1999) “...met the Russians by Jules Verne” was first published in the anthology “Poisk-92” (Ekaterinburg, 1992).
