About the book: year / Marryat (Marryat) Frederick (10.7.1792, London, - 9.8.1848, Langham, Norfolk), English writer. Son of a businessman. In 1806-30 he served in the navy. M.'s novels abound with descriptions of sea battles and ship life: “Peter Simple” (1834), “Midshipman Easy” (1836) and others. In the novels “Jacob the Faithful” (1834) and “Snarleygou, or the Devil Dog” (1837), his talent as a humorist and writer of everyday life was revealed. After a trip to the USA, he published “An American Diary” (1839), containing criticism of the country’s political system.
