About the book: 1963 / The novel by Chukchi writer Yuri Rytkheu In the Valley of Little Bunnies is based on an interesting and unusual event. Many years ago, an accomplice of American fur buyers, Loke, led a group of Chukchi into the depths of the peninsula. He managed to intimidate and convince the shepherds of the camp that the “real” Chukchi, living by the ancient customs of their people, have no place on the collective farm. The camp wanders, hiding in the most remote places of Chukotka, but the Soviet people find it, and only Loke himself saves him from meeting them his unexpected death. The people of the camp, primarily the inquisitive shepherd Koravier and his inquisitive young wife Rosmunta, try to understand the meaning of the big events taking place outside their camp and accept in their yarangas people from the distant world - Soviet geologists. About the Chukchi, who with difficulty and together with this they joyfully enter a new world of great things, and Yuri Rytkheu vividly and fascinatingly talks about the Soviet people helping them in this in his novel.
