About the book: 2015 / The events of the Rzhev-Vyazma battles are often interpreted with great casualties suffered by the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War. There is some truth to this. The purpose of this book is to understand in more detail and objectively all the ongoing events of that difficult time for the country. One of the reasons for the tragedy in the death of Soviet soldiers was the weak leadership of the Supreme High Command Headquarters, the command of the Western Front, led by General G. K. Zhukov, their gross tactical mistakes. Instead of strengthening the Red Army and promoting its successes, harsh repressions and punitive measures were carried out in the ranks of the army, and often innocent officers and soldiers were shot, as a rule, in front of companies or battalions. But still, no matter how the future developed the fate of our Motherland, we must not forget that the Rzhev-Vyazemsky battles, which lasted 103 days, played an important role in the liberation of the Moscow, Tula, and many areas of the Kalinin and Smolensk regions from the Nazi invaders. We must sacredly honor the memory of the exceptional valor, courage and mass heroism of our defenders of the Moscow, Siberian, Ural, Far Eastern and other military units and formations of our former multinational Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Archival, journalistic and other materials collected bit by bit show that the overwhelming majority those who fought for our Motherland did not leave us memories, which made compiling this book difficult. Basically, this is the value of the book, which allows you to deeply understand the conditions under which the difficult Great Victory was achieved. The publication is intended for a wide range of readers.
