  • MediaDB / «At the Edge of the Beam" Alexander Shepilovsky: download fb2, read online

About the book: 1974 / Shepilovsky’s only fully published work is a parody of pseudo-sci-fi works of the 60s - 70s. with the authors’ attempts to invent some new discovery, providing it with a scientific explanation and an attempt to connect this discovery with an adventure plot. The result, as a rule, turned out to be quite unimportant. Shepilovsky, in the preface, compared his hero with Munchausen: he, like the baron, takes as a basis the immutable law of nature and immediately turns it inside out, explaining to them a completely incredible, fairy-tale story. I saw in the story a parody without any hint of seriousness and deliberately cut off the information about the author taken from Gakov’s Encyclopedia of Fiction, where the story is called “clichéd and self-parody.” The author of the reference clearly sees SF as a mouthpiece for scientific achievements.
