About the book: 1994 / Outstanding film screenwriter Valentin Ezhov lived a happy life in cinema, as he worked with almost all the largest directors of the country, such as Mark Donskoy, Boris Bariet , — Vladimir Basov, Grigory Chukhrai, Yakov Segel, Georgy Danelia, Larisa Shepitko, Andron Mikhalkov-Konchalovsky, Vytautas Zhalakevicius and others, as well as Sergio Olkhovich (Mexico), Ion Popescu-Gopo (Romania), Tokyo Goto (Japan). Only once did Valentin Yezhov misfire: when he wrote the script “The Bloody Fiesta of a Young American” to Sergei Bondarchuk for his film about John Reed, the director rejected it. Indeed, in this case, Yezhov was mistaken, because his film story was written in a manner unusual for Bondarchuk. This master gravitated toward a densely populated, multifaceted novel, an epic. Anyone who has seen the film about John Reed called “Red Bells” will understand what we are talking about. Valentin Yezhov in this story offers his solution to this topic.
