About the book: 1960 / In 1935, a collection of translations of Greek epigrams (and some other poems by Greek poets) was published by the most prominent Russian scientist, professor of medicine Leonid Vasilyevich Blumenau (1862– 1931) Before the publication of this book, there had never been such an extensive and high-in-art collection of translations of Greek epigrams into Russian in Russia. This collection, with the addition of some previously unpublished translations by Blumenau, forms the basis of the present edition. In addition, the book presents other translators, including poets of the first half of the 19th century. - the already mentioned Dashkov, Pecherin and others. Therefore, the reader should not be surprised by some diversity in the style of translations: some of them, by their archaic nature, differ significantly from the newer ones. About four hundred epigrams translated by Yu. F. Shultz are published for the first time.
