    About the book: year / Vladimir Mikhailovich Tikhonov (Korean name - Pak Noja, b. 1973) - Russian, then Norwegian orientalist, active figure in the leftist movement in South Korea. After graduating from the Oriental Faculty of Leningrad State University, he defended his PhD thesis on the history of Ancient Korea at Moscow State University (1996). Since 1997 he has lived and worked in South Korea, and since 2001 he has been a citizen of South Korea. Since 2000, he has been studying and teaching the history of Korea and other East Asian countries at the University of Oslo in Norway. Since 2000, he has participated in the work of the Korean Democratic Workers' Party (KDP) as a party lecturer and publicist, published in the party newspaper Jinbo Chongchi (Progressive politics") and the theoretical journal of the KDRP "Iron kwa silcheon" ("Theory and Practice"). In 2008, after the split of the CDRP into nationalist and socialist wings, he joined the latter, in 2011 he joined the New Progressive Party of Korea (NPK), created on the basis of the socialist wing, and was a candidate from the PPK in the 2012 parliamentary elections. Columnist of the left-liberal South Korean newspaper Hangyore "in 1999-2012. Author of 15 books in Korean (mainly devoted to criticism of capitalism and bourgeois, including nationalist, ideology based on Korean material). Author of several scientific monographs on the history of East Asia in English and Norwegian. Translator of Korean poetry and Buddhist philosophical texts into English and Norwegian. V. Tikhonov’s books “History of the Kayan proto-states (second half of the 5th century - 562)” (M., 1998) and “History of Korea” (St. Petersburg. , 2011; co-authored with Kang Man-gil, the patriarch of South Korean Marxist historiography).
