  • MediaDB / «Poetry. Posthumous edition" Vsevolod Knyazev: download fb2, read online

About the book: 1914 / This electronic edition is an almost complete copy of the posthumous collection of poems by Vsevolod Knyazev (1891-1913) - a half-forgotten poet of the Silver Age, who committed suicide in 1913 year. We bring to your attention his only collection of poems, published in 1914 (circulation 425 copies). As critics write: “From this moment on, the myth about the young hussar poet, who committed suicide because of his unhappy love for a beautiful actress, begins its journey through Russian literature. His ghost became an almost indispensable attribute of such a genre as the text-memoir of St. Petersburg in 1913, an important element of what Akhmatova called “Petersburg circumstances.” The most famous of these texts is Akhmatova’s “Poem without a Hero” - with the Dedication “Vs. K.”, with an epigraph from Knyazev. Akhmatov’s “Poem” had a direct source - M. Kuzmin’s poem “The Trout Breaks the Ice”, in which the image of Knyazev also appears. “The legend, captured in two of the greatest Russian poems of the 20th century, made the name of the young hussar truly immortal - which, of course, neither his poems nor his short life could ever have done.” Note:1. All poems in the collection are given in modern spelling.2. Due to the negligence committed by the employees of the RSL (the so-called “Leninka”) when copying, 1 poem is missing from the collection: “All the lights, lights, lights...” (p. 18 of the original edition). We apologize to you, dear readers..
