About the book: 2023 / The literary fame of Andrei Georgievich Bitov (1937–2018) has never been loud, but without his novels “Pushkin House”, “ Man in a Landscape”, “Flying Monks” is difficult to imagine modern Russian literature. Bitov left us quite recently, and this book is, in fact, his first biography. Moreover, it is unusual - its author, prose writer and documentary director Maxim Gureev, builds his narrative as a script for a film that Bitov never made, into which quotes from the writer’s works, memories of him, and the voices of his contemporaries are woven, painting a living and versatile portrait of a memorable master of words.
