About the book: 2012 / The book is dedicated to the history of Russian neopaganism from its origins to the present. Its roots related to the increase in social and interethnic tension in the USSR in the 1970-1980s are analyzed; the reaction to this by radical Russian nationalists, which found expression in science fiction, is discussed; the features of neo-pagan approaches in the political and religious spheres are traced; the characteristics of neo-pagan ideology are given and its manifestations in politics, religion and art are shown. The portraits of the leaders of neo-paganism are examined and their path to it is analyzed. The reader will also gain insight into the formation of various neo-pagan communities and their alliances in the last twenty years. The issue of xenophobia in the neo-pagan environment is discussed. The book is of interest to religious scholars, ethnologists, historians, sociologists, political scientists, as well as to anyone interested in new religions and radical social movements.
