About the book: 1980 / The monograph is devoted to the study of one of the pressing problems of modern philosophy - the problem of symbol. The first part of it contains a critical analysis of two influential and symptomatic concepts of symbol in Western philosophy, represented by the teachings of Bergson and Cassirer. In the second part, an attempt is made to resolve the basic antinomy of the symbol, expressed in the extremes of intuitionism and formalism. The symbol is revealed here as a dialectical unity of form-content, which cannot be reduced separately to either form or content. In this regard, Goethe’s teaching on the proto-phenomenon, which has not yet been covered in our literature, is explored..
