About the book: 1970 / The novel-trilogy "Hadzhibey" tells about the events that took place in the south of Ukraine at the end of the 18th and the first quarter of the 19th century. The novel consists of 3 parts: “The Fall of Khadzhibey”, “Morning of Odessa”, “Stone Sea”. The main character of the work is the Cossack Kondrat Khurdelitsa, whose prototype was the captain of the Black Sea Cossack army Kondraty Tabanets. In addition to fictional characters, the author also recreates the images of commanders Suvorov, Gudovich, De Ribas, Kutuzov, Duke de Richelieu, Count Vorontsov, Decembrists Pestel and Raevsky, young Pushkin and many other famous historical figures. The plot of the novel is very dynamic. Fate throws the book's heroes into the steppes, captured by the Tatar hordes, to the walls of a stone nest - the ancient fortress of Hadzhibey, into the harem of Akhmet Pasha, into Odessa, engulfed by the plague, into the catacombs, to a ball with Count Vorontsov... There are many battle scenes in the novel: skirmishes with the Horde and the Turks, the siege and capture of the Khadzhibey fortress, a grandiose panorama of the Izmail battle, the battle on the Berezina. They are shown from different positions, through the eyes of different people, but each such scene excites and evokes pride in one’s ancestors. Despite the fact that the novel is historical, the book is written easily and follows the best traditions of the adventure genre. Masterful intrigue and unexpected plot twists force the reader to follow the fate of the heroes with unflagging interest..
