The author of this book sought to tell about the life of Shevchenko, about his era and his contemporaries. There is not a drop of fiction in it: everything is based on archival documents, letters, memoirs. At the same time time, the author, using various facts and materials in the book - including those he himself found and established - does not provide a detailed scientific argument. This book is not a monograph. This is a lively and direct story about the fate of the artist and fighter.
